An Empty Shell

Along the vast abandoned coastal lines,
Just a step away from the rocky slopes,
Laid a glistening shell, so fine,
From which a frail creature eloped
The shell used to be a perfect solace:
A warm comfort after a subtle race,
A strong refuge in times of storm,
A calming assurance, regardless of form.
Come the mighty rage of waves,
Breaking the silence of the space.
The tiny shell felt the turbulent raves,
Causing a fracture underneath its face.
The shelter gradually losses its worth
For the gentle being within which resides.
A sting from the wall breaks forth,
Wounding the creature in a stride.
How unblemished it looks from the surface!
A sturdy simple haven, to dwell!
Marred, the frail being need to seek a place,
A new sanctuary to mend itself well.
What's left of the shell that's broken?
Left alone in the midst of the dunes?
It may looked dandy and unshaken,
But it's empty and left with nothing to commune.
What's there to revere on an empty solace,
When no one's there to talk to your face?
What happiness and joy of your life to tell,
When your heart's a vacuum, more like an empty shell?
